State of Charge (SOC) Meter Not Tracking Battery Voltage |
| |
No: 2010-002
Issue Date: 4/30/10
Subject: State of Charge (SOC) Meter Not Tracking Battery Voltage
Description of Problem: The UTV state of charge meter continues to read 100% although the battery pack is depleted.
Units Affected: 2010 UTV and LSV models with either Senco SOC/Hour meter or Curtis SOC meter.
Cause: The wire that provides power to maintain the meter memory is on the low side of the power switch. This effectively powers down the memory each time the switch is turned off allowing the meter to lose track of what the last charge level was on the battery pack. The meter will eventually catch up but the meter is set to scan the pack every six minutes so it would only update after several minutes of continuous operation.
Solution: Pin 9 on the SOC meter (pin 1 on the Curtis SOC meter) needs to be rerouted to the high side of the power switch. See the attached set of instructions on how to accomplish this.
Contact Information: Bad Boy UTV technical support is available 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday except for holidays. Phone (870) 698-0090 and ask for UTV technical support |
