Gas Utility Vehicle Rear Brake Caliper |
| |
No: 2011-002
Issue Date:3/21/11
Subject: Gas UTV Rear Brake Caliper Importance: High
Description of Problem: Rear brake caliper mounting bolts may come loose and fall out. Bolts holding hitch assembly to rear differential may work loose and fall out.
Units Affected: All 2010 1500G models
Issued By: D. Gottschalk
Cause: The bolts are furnished with lock washers but we have determined that this is not enough to stop the bolts from vibrating loose over time.
Solution: Remove the two caliper mounting bolts one at a time, install red Loctite or equivalent thread locking compound on the bolts and reinstall. Do the same with the bolts that mount the hitch assembly to the rear end. Inspect other bolts in the undercarriage and add thread locking compound to any that are found to be loose.
It is always a good idea to routinely inspect the vehicles bolt fasteners approximately every 100 hours to insure that none have worked loose.
