How do I check the engine oil?
The engine oil dipstick is located at the rear of the engine on the drivers side. It can be accessed from under the seat or from behind the UTV. Check the oil on level ground. Do not screw the dipstick into the engine threads when checking oil level.
How much and what kind of engine oil do I use in my UTV?
Your UTV holds 3200cc's of engine oil including the oil filter. ATV/MOTORCYCLE specific engine oil must be used to prevent damage to the internal clutch. Only Bad Boy Gas
UTV Engine Lubricant 10W-40 is recommended. Synthetic oil is NOT recommended for use in Bad Boy UTV's.
How often do i need to change my engine oil and filter?
Bad Boy recommends changing the engine oil and oil filter together at about 25 hours of usage.
My air filter looks dirty. How do I clean it?
Your air filter element is paper and cannot be cleaned, only replaced as needed. Do not attempt to clean a paper element by using compressed air. This will damage the element and render it useless.
Where is the oil filter located?
The engine oil filter is located on the front center of the engine and can be accessed by removing the front engine plastic cover.
How do I check the engine coolant?
The radiator cap is located under the front hood of the UTV. NEVER OPEN A HOT RADIATOR! The radiator should be filled with a red colored lifetime antifreeze. Do not mix antifreeze colors. Use only an engine coolant compatible with aluminum engine blocks.
What type of fuel do I use in my UTV?
Your UTV can be used with any type of quality gasoline from 87-93 octane rating and up to 10% ethanol by volume. Do not use E85 type fuels.
What about extreme altitude or temperature usage?
Your UTV comes with standard carburator settings for almost all conditions but can be easily adjusted for extreme conditions very easily. Contact your Bad Boy Dealer for help with your specific riding needs.
What if I get water into the engine or drivetrain?
It happens! If you get water into the powertrain on your UTV, dont worry. Drain all of the fluids immediatly. Remove the spark plug. Pull the drain screw on the bottom of the belt housing. Remove and replace the air filter element. Flushing will be required to get all of the water out of the engine. Call your Bad Boy dealer for immediate service to prevent damage to the engine.
What about the the oil in the front and rear differentials?
Both front and rear differentials use 350cc's of 80w-90 gear oil and should be checked at every engine oil change. Replace the front and rear differential oil with the first oil change about 25 hours. Then replace every 2 years.
My UTV wont move! what could be the problem?
Your UTV has a belt drive transmission. If the belt becomes wet, oily, or damaged, the UTV may not move. Contact your Bad Boy dealer for assistance.
How do I adjust the engine idle RPM's?
The engine idle RPM's should be set at 1500 +/- 100 from the factory. If yours requires adjustment, the idle adjustment knob is about the size of a dime with a philips screw head in the center and is located on the lower drivers side of the carburetor.
Where are the fuses located?
There are three fuses on your UTV. Two of them are mounted under the drivers seat inside of the seat bracket with black plastic covers over them. One is located in the top of the starter solinoid that is mounted next to the battery. It has a red plastic cap that comes from the wiring harness covering it.
How much air do I need in the tires?
Bad Boy recommends 12 psi in all four tires.
How much can I haul with my UTV?
The Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity is 2000 lbs. The UTV weighs 1100 lbs, so that leaves 900 lbs for riders and bed capacity. Bad Boy recommends a maximum of 1200 lbs trailer towing capacity.
