March 28, 2010 Albuquerque NM - Austin Meier became the number one ranked rider in the world on Sunday after bringing the crowd at the world-famous “Pit” to its feet with a 92-point ride on “MoeBandy.com” in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round.
Meier scored 86.25 on “Walk The Line” in Round 3, going on to win the Sandia Resort & Casino presents Ty Murray Invitational with 351 points and took home $31,100.
“It has been an incredible year and the success that I have had is unreal,” said Meier, who has also won in Kansas City, Mo. and Winston-Salem, N.C. “I have matured the last two years including making changes in my workout routine and what I eat. That is what it takes to be successful at this level is dedication and I just have to keep riding hard and taking it one bull at a time.”
Meier is in first place in the 2010 PBR Built Ford Tough Standings with 5,054.50 points and $121,661 followed by Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) with 4,944.00 points and $134,812 and J. B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) with 4,848.75 points and $151,044.
Meier and Mauney will represent the United States in the 2010 PBR World Cup presented by Dickies, the PBR’s premier international event, which comes to the United States for the first time ever on April 16-18 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
