What type of engines are available on Bad Boy Mowers?
Currently we offer Kohler, Kawasaki, Vanguard, Briggs and Stratton, and Caterpillar.
What type of oil is recommended for my mower?
Bad Boy Mowers leave the factory with Shell 10w 30 motor oil in the engine. However, since the engines are warranted by the engine manufactures, we recommend that you refer to the engine owner’s manual for specs, or you can visit their web sites for more information. Click here for owner’s manuals

What is the difference between a liquid-cooled engine and an air cooled-engine?
A liquid-cooled engine gives you a constant operating temperature which will increase fuel economy, decrease oil breakdown, and may last up to 50% longer. In addition, a cooler engine also means a cooler operator because the cooling fan draws hot air through the radiator, past the engine and away from the operator.
An air-cooled engine is much simpler with fewer working parts which means a lower purchase price and less maintenance.
What type of fuel is recommended for my mower?
We recommend that you use a name brand fuel to ensure quality. Use fuel with an octane rating near 87. Higher octane fuels offer no benefit.

On average, how long should a Bad Boy mower last?
Maintenance, mowing conditions, temperature, and hours of operations play a huge role in the life of a mower. However, Bad Boy Mowers are without a doubt the strongest, most durable zero-turn mower available. With proper care, your Bad Boy will deliver many years of reliability, productivity, and comfort.
How durable is the electric deck lift?
The actuator which controls the deck height is designed for moving loads of up to 1000 pounds and has a static holding capability which exceeds 3,000 pounds. Our ¼” deck weighs approximately 250 pounds which is only 25% of its working capability.
What is the recommended maintenance schedule for my mower?
Maintenance schedules will vary by model. Consult your operator’s manual for details.
How often should I clean my air filter?
We recommend that you check your air filter every 20 hours. Dusty and dry conditions may require more checks
Are baggers available for Bad Boy Mowers?
Baggers developed by Peco are available for the Pup and Lightning series on all deck sizes up to 60”.
Can tire pressure affect the quality of cut and the ride?
If the tire pressure is different from side to side, the cut will be uneven. Air pressure may also have a drastic affect on traction in dusty or wet conditions. See owner’s manual for recommended air pressure.
Are trailer hitches available on Bad Boy Mowers?
Rear hitches are optional on Pups and lightning series and are standard on AOS and Diesel series. Front hitches are standard on all models except the ZT Series

Do you have a residential series that is durable?
The ZT series is our residential model. The ZT series is smaller in size, but we didn’t cut corners getting there, and offers all of the basic features available on the commercial models
What is the blade tip speed?
Blade tip speeds will range from 18,500 to 18,900 depending on engine horsepower.
