70 Kids Swim, Bike & Run for Literacy at the Bad Boy Kids Triathlon!

The inaugural Bad Boy Kids triathlon for the Literacy Progect was a huge success! Lyon College was awash with kids and families from 3 states and over a dozen different cities who came to participate in the inaugural Bad Boy Kids Triathlon for Literacy! Participants, ages 5 to 16, were full of determination. Adults couldn't help but be inspired as they watched them swim in the Lyon pool, bike around the campus loop, then run around the soccer field and duck pond. A few parents became honorary triathletes, as they raced around campus to watch their children complete all three portions of the event! Race results are available through Stearns Race Timing.

$2,500 was raised for the Ozark Foothills Literacy Project, and many new, young triathletes were born. A big thank you goes out to the many sponsors, volunteers and other supporters who made this exciting event possible. Major sponsors were Bad Boy Mowers; swim sponsors Fuller Bumpers, Attorney at Law and Lifeplus; bike sponsors Lyon College and Citizens Bank; and run sponsors Weaver Family Medicine and First Community Bank.

Nearly 40 volunteers came from organizations such as Kiwanis, Lyon College, and the White River Road Runners, to help guide the young athletes. Sports drinks and water were provided by Pepsi, extra bike helmets came from the Jr. Auxiliary of Independence County, and Karpet Korner provide carpet to cover the rocky path from the pool to the bike transition area.

Photos of the event are available on the Literacy Project's Facebook page.
